Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has reportedly bought a five-bedroom villa for his family at a Manchester City branded housing project in Abu Dhabi. The Norway forward was announced as a homeowner at Manchester City Yas Residences by Ohana through a video message shown at the launch of the development’s second phase. Neither the price nor the size of his villa, beyond its five bedrooms, was disclosed. The event took place on Monday, October 12, at Etihad Arena.
Haaland’s father, Alfie, a former Manchester City player, attended the launch in person and received the keys to his own property in the community. Pep Guardiola, the club’s former manager, has been named the project’s official brand ambassador. He attended as guest of honour and spoke about teamwork, discipline and wellbeing. The developer said more than 4,000 guests attended the evening.
The development sits along Yas Canal, beside Yas Island, and covers a site of 1.67 million square metres. It is planned to hold more than 2,000 homes, including townhouses, duplex villas and larger family houses. The second phase offers two- and three-bedroom townhouses, duplex villas, and four- and five-bedroom villas. Ohana lists an average price of Dh3.75 million for its two-bedroom townhouses, and sales for phase two open on October 19.
Construction is already under way, with homes due to be handed over in phases from 2029. The plans include a dedicated park, a training academy, football pitches, tennis and basketball courts, fitness facilities and other recreation areas. The guest numbers, sales date, average prices and phase details were all supplied by the developer, and the purchase itself was described as reported rather than confirmed by the player. The sports facilities are designed to reflect the club branding that sits at the centre of the scheme’s marketing.
Yas Island is already home to Etihad Arena and Yas Marina Circuit, and the new community will add a large residential district on its edge. The project also adds to the links between Manchester City and the UAE capital, where the club’s ownership is connected through City Football Group. For Ohana, attaching Haaland and Guardiola to the launch gives the scheme two of the best-known names in European football. The level of demand for the second phase will become clearer once sales open on October 19, a week after the launch.
